BREWER, Maine (AP) — An armed man who caused a standoff outside a Walmart, forcing customers to shelter in place, ended with an arrest early Saturday, officials said.
The man was charged with possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, violation of bail conditions and creating a police standoff.
The episode unfolded late Friday afternoon in the store parking lot when police spoke to the man and learned there were warrants for his arrest. Police then shut down the area and the store was placed on lockdown.
The man suffered lacerations to his arm during the arrest in which a police dog assisted early Saturday, officials said.
