EDDINGTON, Maine (WABI) – Several emergency departments responded to Eddington Monday morning to deal with a fire at a manufacturing company.
Just before 10 a.m., crews were called to Peavey Manufacturing Company for a report of a blaze in their boiler building.
The boiler facility is a separate building from the other Main Road operations.
Officials say the fire was in the insulation, which led to some labor intensive removal for firefighters.
Eddington’s deputy chief tells TV5 because there was no danger of someone getting hurt and they were familiar with the business, they were able to unscrew roof panels to get to the fire instead of cutting into them.
“We needed to be able to remove some of those panels to allow for better access and to allow us some more smoke removal, but it wasn’t something that needed to happen right that second that we needed to cut them, so one of the, that’s just one of the ways we can help reduce some damage. The panels will probably have to be replaced anyways. They’ve got quite a bit of heat damage to them,” said Dep. Chief Craig Russell.
No one was injured.
The cause is still under investigation.
