William “Bill” Andrews

February 22, 1961 – July 26, 2025

Bingham/Island Falls/Sherman/Patten – William “Bill” Andrews, beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025, at Houlton Regional Hospital, surrounded by the love of family and friends, after a courageous battle with pneumonia.

Born with Down syndrome, Bill lived his life with a joy and light that touched everyone he met.

He was truly one of a kind—happy, loving, full of laughter, and always ready with a smile or a harmonica tune. Bill’s warmth and gentle spirit left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know him.

In his younger years, Bill cherished summers at the family camp on Kingsbury Pond, where he loved swimming and riding bikes with his brothers and sister. He was a big fan of good food—never one to turn down a hamburger or hot dog with fries, a bag of potato chips, and a cold Diet Coke.

Bill had a deep love of music and could often be found playing along to his favorite songs on his harmonica. He was also a devoted fan of classic TV, especially Happy Days and Laverne Shirley, shows that brought him endless joy.

A proud participant in the Special Olympics, Bill loved the camaraderie and excitement of competing. He looked forward to the events and the chance to see his friends and family cheer him on. Bill showed us all what it means to compete with heart, courage, and kindness—a true inspiration.

Bill is now reunited with his beloved parents, Jane and Ed Andrews; his sister, Tammie; his favorite uncle, Ken (“Bun”); and many other cherished family members. Left to dearly miss Bill are his brothers, Clayton “Chip” (Kate) Andrews, Jamie (Cindy) Andrews, and Travis (Lynn) Andrews; his nieces, Ashley Andrews and Jayna Andrews; his nephews, Cory Andrews, Clay Andrews, John Andrews, Will Andrews, and Brandon Davis; his cousin Carla Small (Andrews), who was like a sister to him; many other beloved cousins; and countless friends whose lives he brightened.

Special thanks to Mary Bates, Kim Bartman, and the many caregivers who took such wonderful care of him over the years.

Bill was a very special person in every way. He showed us the power of pure joy, unconditional love, and how to live each moment with gratitude and laughter. His memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew him.

A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Monday, August 4th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bingham Cemetery. In honor of Bill, the family encourages donations to Special Olympics Maine (https://www.somaine.org) in lieu of flowers. To share memories and condolences please visit www.bowersfuneral.com
