A busy section of the Maine Turnpike has been shut down following a tanker rollover, according to the Scarborough Fire Department.
The Maine Turnpike Authority says the southbound ramp for Exit 42 in Scarborough is closed, as is the right lane at mile 43.
According to officials, the crash happened on the turnpike between Exit 44 in Scarborough and Exit 42 in Scarborough in the southbound lanes.
Drivers should expect delays in the area and are urged to use caution. Officials say it could take as many as eight hours to clear the scene.
Authorities told Maine’s Total Coverage the tanker is full, containing 15,000 gallons of propane. Officials added the contents of the truck did not spill onto the roadway, and there is no danger to drivers or the public.
