LEWISTON (WGME) — A woman has been charged with arson after police say she set an unoccupied child’s stroller on fire in Lewiston on Thanksgiving.

According to police, officers spotted a stroller that was on fire on a porch in the Summer St. neighborhood. Officers were able to quickly put the fire out.

A suspicious woman had been seen wandering the area prior to officers discovering the fire, according to police.

Police say accelerants had also been poured on the porch but had not yet ignited.

Police say they found the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Kris Burgess of both Florida and Maine, and charged her with arson.

Burgess had no connection to the owners of the stroller, according to police.

No one was injured during the incident.
